The resurfacing laser (pinhole technique)

is a procedure that creates micro-holes at 1~3mm intervals within raised (convex) scars using CO₂ or Er:YAG lasers. This induces changes in the excessively proliferated collagen tissue,

and is a treatment principle that helps to reorganize the scar structure, allowing for gradual softening and reduction.

This method can penetrate deeper into the dermal layer than typical surface-focused laser treatments. Therefore, it can be considered for improving papular or hypertrophic scars that require access to the dermal layer.
